Job Summary

Caldwell Companies is seeking a knowledgeable, motivated and experienced estimator responsible for quantifying materials/labor, entering estimate data into the computer system, creating budgets, validating estimates, maintaining current estimates due to specification changes, investigating variances and working closely with construction to address issues. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills and the ability to interact with all stakeholders including contract professionals, architects, and vendors. Our ideal candidate must be able to establish and maintain relationships with contractors and vendors as well as be able to prioritize potential setbacks, use technology to assess production risks, compile reports, and make presentations to project leaders outlining the status of current and upcoming projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis of project plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating.
  • Prepare detailed take-offs and material quantities for multifamily, amenity, and commercial projects.
  • Develop and present budgets, cost comparison analysis, and value engineering proposals stakeholders.
  • Generate competitive bids for construction projects.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, building codes, and construction practices.

Requirements

  •  Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction estimating, with a focus on multifamily, amenity, and/or commercial projects.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, On-Screen Takeoff) and MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
